California Official Proposes Splitting State in Two, Puts SD in the Crappy One

So you know the parts of California that are gorgeous, well-off, coastal, and progressive? Some guy in Riverside wants to split from those guys from the rest of us and create a state he calls “South California”.

Don’t let the name deceive you – all coastal counties from Los Angeles on up are part of “North California” or whatever.  That makes…sense.  But never fear, we get gems like Imperial, San Bernardino, and Fresno counties.

It’s like that movie Twins, and we’re in the Danny Devito half.  The guy on the left would have been the governor of the other California.

State Assemblyman Jeff Stone is shopping his proposal around to each county in the proposed new state.  What’s his motivation you ask?  He claims a failure of governance or some such, but the North County Times notes that the proposal is a “partisan divide, as 11 of the 13 targeted counties have a Republican edge in voter registration —- in a state that today is heavily Democratic.”

The guy wants to have a Republican coup and drag us in with them.  I’m not the biggest fans of the Democrats (in California state government especially), but just imagine the kind of redneck Arizona-but-with-water crap we’d be pulling.  Thankfully, the good folks at Wikipedia say that this has happened at least 27 times before, including when the pre-Civil War south tried to make us a SLAVE STATE.

History is on our side, so I don’t think we have to worry yet about getting SRH clothes and taking our totally sick bikes out to Glamis, bro.

How does Los Angeles get counted as “North CA,” but Fresno, which is farther north, is considered “South CA?” For the pure fact that I live in LA, I’m against it, since I’m not going to be in a state that doesn’t include SD.
